Here’s a hot take

Does Scottie win in 2025 before the Ryder Cup?
I don’t think so.
I think it’s safe to say that Phil was a bit off on this one. Not only did Scottie win last week, he DOMINATED. Scottie shot a 4-round total of -31 (61, 63, 66, 63) to win by 8 strokes at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson @TPC Craig Ranch. Scottie is back to prove that he is the most dominant player in golf, and things are heating up for the PGA Championship next week. Jordan Spieth shot a final round 62 (-9) to finish 4th. Jordan has played in 10 events this season and has only missed one cut. Spieth has 3 top 10s and 6 top 25s. Will another player join the list of greats to complete the Career Grand Slam just over a month apart? I wouldn’t be surprised to see Spieth’s name towards the top of the leaderboard next Sunday.
Bryson won on the LIV Tour last week in South Korea with a winning score of -19, two shots lower than Charles Howell III and 5 shots over Talor Gooch. Other LIV players also received special exemptions into the PGA Championship, including Dustin Johnson, Tom McKibbin, and David Puig.
We have been blessed with the tournaments so far this season. Starting in Hawaii with Hideki Matsuyama’s record-breaking performance, Rory has already won 3 times (and completed the Career Grand Slam), Ludvig Aberg winning the Genesis Invitational, and we had some breakthrough wins with Karl Villips and Min Woo Lee. And it’s only May.
The PGA Tour is playing the Truist Championship this week at the Philadelphia Cricket Club, which is an unreal venue. I’m not sure how I feel about having signature events the week before every major, especially because the field next week at Quail Hollow will be 10x more stacked, making this week look like an exhibition. Speaking of, Erik Van Rooyen finished 2nd last week, 8 strokes behind Scottie, and qualified for the event this week at PCC was asked about his thoughts on the new signature event format. Here is what he had to say:
"How honest do you want me to be?!

The PGA Tour signature event format needs to change because it feels like the calendar is sprinting from January through July, and only the smallest percentage of the top players in the world are competing at the highest level.
