UR-Golf Blog Entry 7: Updated Brooks and Bryson News

Rumors are Everywhere

Recent rumors and sightings involving Brooks Koepka and Bryson DeChambeau, along with discussions about a potential return to the PGA Tour, have fueled speculation about the future of professional golf. During a recent LIV Golf press conference, Bryson was asked to address reports that he was denied a $280-million valuation for a new contract and whether that decision might influence his commitment to LIV. He dismissed those claims as mere rumors, stating that he is “very excited to be the captain of the Crushers and continue [the] legacy that we’re starting to create.”

He damaged a relationship which he cares about. If it is true, he took away Brook’s control of the timeline and narrative

– Phil Mickelson on X

Freddie Couples made headlines on a recent radio show, openly discussing conversations with Brooks Koepka, stating, “He wants to come back. I will say that I really believe he wants to come back and play the Tour.” While Koepka has yet to respond, Phil Mickelson stepped up to the plate on Twitter saying that it was “a low class jerk move by Fred.” With Couples putting Koepka in the spotlight, the pressure is now on Brooks to address the rumors. Will he set the record straight, or let the speculation continue?

Arnold Palmer Invitational

My first pick this week may come as a bit of a surprise, but I think it’s his time to shine. World #1 Scottie Scheffler (+350). Although these odds are pretty bad, it would be shameful not to think that he’s going to win this week. Enough said.

Pick number 2 is Justin Thomas (+2500). JT has three top-10 finishes in 5 events, with one runner-up. 7th in SG: Total, it’s time for JT to get back in the winner’s circle at this elevated event.

Somebody who has not been given enough credit so far in their career is Aaron Rai. Rai has made 4/5 cuts so far this season and is in the top half of each stats category except for SG: Around the Green. Coming off of a t-4 at the Mexico Open, Aaron Rai is in good form heading into this week.
